Basic rules of Parliamentary Procedure

  • Point of Information: It is used to address other delegates to ask questions in relation to speeches and position papers.

  • Point of Personal Privilege  Used to address any personal discomfort such as hearing problems, too hot/too cold, going to the restroom, etc.

  • Point of Order: It is used to address a procedural matter such as that the delegate is using the personal pronoun. 

  • Point of Inquiry: It is used to address any clarification of procedure needed by a delegate.

  • Motion to Suspend debate: By using this you are entering to an informal debate and a specific length must be included.

  • Motion to adjourn the meeting: It is used to end the meeting for the day.

  • Motion to close the debate: It is used to end debate and and move into voting.
